Jim Cooper is not scared of ringing the changes ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy encounter with Biggleswade Town.
The Metropolitan Police secured a 2-1 victory over Burgess Hill Town this weekend marking their best ever start to a season with ten consecutive victories.
Burgess Hill Town took an early lead from the penalty spot but Eddie Smith equalised just before half time. Craig Watkins secured the win after an hour to extend the Blues unbeaten run and make it their best ever start to a season in the Metropolitan Police's 91-year history.
“That was our worst performance so far. Burgess Hill are a good side. Although they did not create many chances it was hard fought. But we just about shaded it”, Cooper said.
“The players who came in were the pluses. It was the established ones who were a bit off”.
“A few of them were a bit leggy and are in need of a rest”.
“We are going to use Saturday to rest a couple of them and let them recuperate before the FA Cup game. We will give a few players a run out and take a look at them, he added.”
Jim Cooper's side have been drawn at home to Wealdstone in the FA Cup third round qualifying after the Ryman Premier Division side defeated Chesham United 4-1 in their second round qualifying replay on Monday night. The tie will be played on Saturday October 9.
“They are in a higher league than us but we are at home and we do not really fear anyone at the moment”, he explained.
“We are not after looking at records but we want to keep the run going and challenge on all fronts. We are very fortunate here that we have competition for places”.
“Players know that if they are dropped it may be a long time before they get back. It helps them keep their feet on the floor so they do not start believing their own press.”
Metropolitan Police's next three games: Oct 2 Biggleswade Town (FA Trophy, h), 9 Wealdstone (FA Cup, h), 20 Whitehawk (h).
