The company behind a new urban village in the centre of Croydon have shown off their designs to visitors from Constructing Excellence Croydon Club.
Barratt Homes’ New South Quarter scheme in Purley Way has transformed what was previously a redundant brownfields site into a bevy of new homes aimed at first-time buyers.
Members of the club visited the construction yesterday to hear from the Barratt team about the challenges and progress made at the development.
Innovative designs at the site include incorporating the underground River Wandle through the new estate by bringing it to the surface, with Barratt building public spaces around the river and contributing to the regeneration of nearby Wandle Park.
The first phase of the site - Block A - has been completed and occupied, with Block B nearing completion.
Croydon’s Constructing Excellence Club is open to anyone involved in the industry and already includes companies such as TPS, Mott MacDonald and ITC Concepts.
