The programme for the largest Black History Month celebration ever to take place in Sutton has been announced.
Dozens of activities will take place across the borough throughout October to commemorate significant events and notable people in black history.
Events including, workshops, film screenings and a photography competition will take place from Friday, October 1 to Saturday, October 30.
Veronica Fritzon, chair of Black History Month Sutton, said: "Sutton's programme of events marks our contribution to the annual nationwide celebration of Black History Month.
“There are a range of activities to attract participation from all sections of the community and we look forward to seeing you there."
The volunteer-led programme of events has been supported by Sutton Council and aims to raise awareness of African Caribbean heritage and culture.
Leitina Reuben-Travers, director of Sutton Racial Equality Council, said: "This year, residents and key organisations have come together to produce a Black History Month programme of entertainment and education, to highlight the significant contribution that people of African and Caribbean heritage make in all areas of society.”
