A concert in Beddington Park has raised nearly £9,500 for Sutton charities.
Music in the Park 2010 was held in the grounds of Carew Manor on June 19 and cheques have been presented to the charities this month.
More than 2,400 people turned up at the event organised by Rotary Club of Carshalton Beeches.
Sutton Association for the Blind, St Raphael’s Hospice, Friends of Orchard Hill and the 1st Wallington Scout Troop received cheques of £2000 each.
Other beneficiaries include the St John Ambulance, The Vine Project, North Wallington and Ruskin Adventure Scouts, Sutton Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Diamond Riding Centre.
Brian Hagley, of the rotary club said: "The concert was a great success in providing a wonderful community event.
"Needless to say the rotary club are very grateful for all the help and support they got, not only from the public for attending but also local organisations, suppliers and services that helped both before and on the night. Without their help the event could not go ahead.
"The audience enjoyed music by The Mersey Beatles and The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. And, as a special treat, one of The Mersey Beetles sang a rendition of Yesterday backed by the Orchestra.
Mr Hagley said: “Given the day's weather forecast, the evening, thank goodness, was dry - although it was a bit chilly.
“The rendition of Yesterday at the end bought the crowd to their feet in rapturous applause at the finish.”
Mr Hagley said plans are already in progress for the 2011 event, which will be the 20th anniversary of Music in the Park.
The club is keen to hear from any commercial organisations who would be willing to sponsor the event.
The club is also keen to hear from anyone interested in joining as a member. It meets weekly on Thursday evenings at the Dukes Head in Wallington.
