Burglars who broke into a garage and stole a 100-year-old antique sundial worth £300 and an expensive patio dining set are being hunted by police.

The thieves fled with four tables and a chair worth £500, along with a £50 Bosch jigsaw power tool from the house in Woodland Way, Kingswood.

Surrey Police said they targeted the family home between 4pm on Wednesday, September 1, and 5pm on Saturday, September 18.

Detective Constable Portia Andrews, of Surrey Police, said: “The burglary has deeply upset the family as the property belonged to a close relative who has recently passed away.

“Although we have a wide time frame for this crime to have taken place in, the thief or thieves must have had to use some form of transport to carry the stolen goods.

“They will have also been at the property for a period of time as the items are heavy and hard to lift. Two garage doors were damaged in the process so it is likely they made some noise too.”
