Police officers have issued a warning to a company after it was found to be responsible for transporting heavy duty, off-road motorbikes to Roundshaw Downs where they were ridden in an anti-social manner.
Officers from Sutton’s Safer Parks Team and Beddington South Safer Neighbourhoods carried out an investigation after receiving a number of photos from a member of the public during September.
The vehicles in the photographs, which were used to transport the bikes, probably three in number, were traced to a window cleaning company in Wallington. Police estimate that the bikes are probably worth around £10,000 each.
Roundshaw Downs is a popular area for dog walkers and visitors and borders Sutton and Croydon boroughs. The warning was issued under Section 59 of the Crime & Disorder Act 2002.
Sgt Mark Dolice said: "We have a number of photos of the riders behaving in an anti-social manner and our enquiries are continuing.
"We will take robust action against individuals who endanger the lives of visitors and users to this park - and this could result in officers seizing the bikes and prosecuting the offenders." He added: "The riders had no idea they were being filmed."
