The trial of two Iraqis accused of killing a Chessington red cap and five others was delayed this week.
It was set to start on Wednesday, September 29, more than seven years after they were murdered by a 400-strong mob in Iraq.
But the judge adjourned the case until October 10, to allow witnesses more time to travel.
Sergeant Simon Hamilton-Jewell, 41, lived in Moor Lane, until his death on June 24 2003, when he and his British Military Police colleagues came under attack at a police station in Majar al-Kabir, while training local Iraqi officers.
Iraqi officials issued arrest warrants in 2006, but there was little progress, until eight people were arrested in February.
All but Hamza Hateer and Mussa Ismael al Fartusi walked free and the trial at the central criminal court in Baghdad began on Wednesday, September 29.
The Surrey Comet joined Sgt Hamilton-Jewell's brother Tony in the quest for justice, and handed a petition to number 10 in 2004, demanding an independent inquiry.
