Three sandwich delivery ladies are cycling across Europe to raise money for a leading charity for terminally-ill children.
The trio of Alice Williams, Hazel Learner and Philippa Colby, based at Darwin’s Deli, Wimbledon, left six weeks ago and are already half way through their epic 4,500 mile journey to raise money for Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Starting at the northern tip of Norway, they have just over 2,000 miles to cover, carrying all their own equipment without the help of support vehicles, before they reach the finish line in Sicily.
Alice Williams said: “I’ve been cycling around Wimbledon selling sandwiches for the last couple of years, which is how I became interested in the idea of a long distance trip across Europe.
“It's great to cycle so many miles every day and actually move forward rather than just going round in circles. We've covered 2,000 miles in five weeks so we are confident about hitting the Alps soon.”
Alice, Hazel and Philippa aim to raise £1 for each mile they cover. To make a donation, see virginmoneygiving.com/team/cyclingsandwichladies
