BREAKING NEWS: Smoking manhole causes traffic delays
A road was cordoned off after reports of a smoking manhole today.
Police and firefighters cordoned off Coombe Road, in New Malden, at 3.30pm while they investigated the source of the smoke, believed to be coming from underground EDF energy cables and boxes.
Traffic returned to normal by about 5.50pm, when the area was made safe and police removed the cordon.
