After a gap of 18 years, 2010 saw Wallington Tennis Club restart their club tournament which culminated recently with their Finals Day.
The grass courts were in pristine condition and official LTA umpires and line judges with Wimbledon centre court experience were on hand to ensure professional adjudication and added greatly to the excitement of the day.
To the relief of the many spectators the weather remained kind, allowing a full afternoon's exhibition of thrilling serve and volleys, topspin lobs and cross-court winners.
The event was a huge success with live music and a barbecue finishing off what proved to be a fitting end to the summer tennis season in Wallington.
The winners for this years tournament were Ladies' singles: Edita Tuckover Men's singles: Geoff Charles-Edwards Men's doubles: Steve Stacey & Geoff Charles-Edwards Ladies' doubles: Caroline Brice & Edita Tuckover Mixed doubles: Sue Lloyd & Paul Booth Men's vets: Paul Booth Boys' singles: Jacob Collins Girls' singles: Elspeth Meakin Anyone interested in becoming a member should visit the club's website, WallingtonTennisClub.org for more information.
