Kieron Cadogan is treating the harsh lesson dished out to Crystal Palace on Saturday as a learning curve.
The winger thought he had earned the Eagles a point against league leaders Queens Park Rangers, managed by former Palace boss Neil Warnock, when he tapped in Wilfried Zaha's cross with two minutes left.
Rangers went up the other end though and took all three points back to west London thanks to Heidar Helguson's 93rd minutes header.
"It is a learning curve I suppose and still early in the season so nothing to be too worried about," said the 20-year-old.
"The manager said to us afterwards we played well but the last four minutes after we scored the equaliser it was like we panicked and switched off a bit.
"The majority of the game we had most of the chances, it was just that little sharpness at the end but that will come.
"We have players out as well and players coming back, it is not a great thing to worry about.
"We are gelling and we are getting tougher together as a group.
"We are still getting to know each other a bit but we have the international break now so it should be a chance to really knit together and hopefully we will come out on top."
Cadogan's strike is his first since his debut goal against Coventry in April last year.
Having not made even a substitute appearance for Palace last season he has played a part in all but one game under manager George Burley and is pleased with his progress.
"I am loving playing and enjoying it so much," he said.
"I want to keep going and try and get the end result."
