Thieves have loaded a car onto a truck before stealing it from a Raynes Park street.
The car, a blue Vauxhall Astra, was picked up and put on the back of a truck by daring thieves in Wykes Road last month. A witness saw two men load the car onto their vehicle and then drive off on September 16. One thief is about 45 with grey hair, and the other is about 25.
Police believe a black Ford Fusion stolen from the same street exactly a week earlier may have been taken in the same way, as there was no evidence of broken windows.
Sergeant Dan Wheatley of Raynes Park Safer Neighbourhood Team urged residents to report suspicious activitiy. He said: “People just have to be a little more switched on.”
He said his officers had increased patrols in the Wykes Road area, and had contacted Merton Council to request more CCTV. He also advised drivers not to leave their cars in the same spot for long periods of time.
