To celebrate the achievement of gaining their Baden Powell awards, 6 Guides from the 5th Worcester Park Company went to Foxlease, a Girlguiding UK training and activity centre at Lyndhurst where Lord and Lady Baden Powell were frequent visitors.
"As it was Heritage weekend, Foxlease was open to the public and we were given a talk about the history of the house and then a tour," said Anne Wade, Guide Leader.
"There were people dressed in costumes including Olave Baden Powell and Anne Saunderson the last owner who gave the entire estate to the Guide movement.
"We were shown the bedroom of Lord and Lady Baden Powell and were told that since Robert Baden Powell always slept outside, when staying at Foxlease he slept on the balcony.
"It was here that the girls were given their certificate, by ‘Lady Baden Powell’.
"Afterwards the girls had the opportunity to go on the zip wire and we finished with a picnic on the lawn. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to Foxlease."
