Walton Casuals boss Neil Shipperley was always confident his bench would make the difference after super sub striker Charlie Ide a late winner at Eastborune Town at the weekend.
The 22-year-old former Brentford man added to Daniel Lawson’s fourth minute opener, after the hosts had netted a second-half equaliser from the penalty spot.
“We would have taken a replay, but with the strength on the bench we have we knew we could win it,” added Shipperley.
The win sets up an FA Trophy first qualifying round trip to Enfield Town - Leatherhead’s conquerers - and the Waterside Stadium chief is confident of progress.
He said: “If we put in a performance of quality, then we will give ourselves a great chance of progressing.”
Walton Casuals next three games: Oct 9 Faversham Town (a), 11 Oct Sutton United (LCup, h), 16 Oct Enfield Town (a).
