An Esher businessman issued with an arrest warrant over an unpaid council tax bill has settled his debt with Elmbridge Council, the authority has confirmed.
A spokesperson for the council said it received a cheque this morning from Jonathan Dunne, who owns the Albert Arms and George Bar and Brasserie in Esher High Street, paying the debt in full.
The former chairman of the Esher Business Guild failed to turn up to a hearing over the matter at Staines Magistrates’ Court on September 30, forcing the court to issue the arrest warrant on behalf of Elmbridge Council.
The council’s spokesperson also confirmed the warrant had now been cancelled and “the matter was satisfied”.
