A Pollards Hill man killed in an early-morning car crash in Mitcham has been named.

Norris Fagan, a 56-year-old from Conway Gardens, died at about 4am on Friday in Rowan Road when his car hit a tree and burst into flames.

Emergency services said he was found dead at the scene.

The RAC said Rowan Road was closed during the rush hour because of the incident.

PC Julian Marsh said it was not clear why the driver left the road – but it appeared there were no passengers in the car when he was killed.

PC Marsh said the front of the Rover 600 was damaged before the car burst into flames as it rested against the tree.

Witnesses to the crash should call 020 8941 9011.
