A mansion that was the Leatherhead country home of powerful press baron Lord Beaverbrook remains unsold after it went on the market last month for £20m.
The Beaverbrook Foundation announced on September 8 it was putting Cherkley Court, in Reigate Road, Leatherhead, and its 370 acre estate up for sale.
A mystery foreign businessman came forward as a potential buyer but later pulled out.
A spokesman for the Beaverbrook Foundation said: “The one guy who was the main interest, he was looking at basing himself in the UK, but he is now not going to be basing himself here which means he doesn’t need quite as substantial a home.
“Although there has been interest, there hasn’t been any firm offers just yet.
“At the moment the price is still the same.”
