After last year's transport debacle First Capital Connect (FCC) will be using quad bikes to clear snow from its car parks, station forecourts and even tracks this winter.
FCC is believed to be the first train operating company in the UK to employ the use of specialised vehicles, which can clear a forecourt in 15 minutes.
The bikes will be driven by FCC’s cleaning contractors and will be delivered to snow hit stations using transit vans which will be equipped with snow tyres and snow chains to beat the worsening weather conditions.
Keith Jipps, FCC’s head of customer services, said: “The Met Office is predicting that this winter will be colder than last year and we at FCC are determined to be as well prepared as possible.
"The quad bike snow ploughs are a fantastic innovation and will be very useful in helping our customers to reach our stations and their destinations safely during times of snow disruption.”
