A former mayor of Sutton has died.
Frank Sharp, 87, died at Broadlands Nursing Home, Cheam, on Sunday, February 6, where he had lived for the past three years.
He was elected as councillor for Cheam West ward in 1990 and became mayor of Sutton in 1993.
He was a founding trustee and former chairman of the Sutton Carers’ Centre and a member of the Institution of Electronic and Radio Engineers, as well as editor of the institution’s professional journal for 15 years.
His wife of more than 50 years, Liz Sharp, mayor of Sutton herself in 1998, died in 2007.
Sutton Council leader Councillor Sean Brennan, said: “Frank did a tremendous amount of good in the community, during his time as councillor and in his personal life. He will be sadly missed.”
His funeral will be held at North East Surrey crematorium in Lower Morden Lane, Morden, on Friday, March 4, at 2pm.
