Staff at an animal charity are gearing up for the London Marathon by revealing three dogs who have been tackling their own unique "marathons".
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has shone a spotlight on Peanut, Molly and Justin - who count among the shelter’s longest-serving residents having not found a home for many months.
Ahead of Sunday’s race, the home’s workers are appealing for new owners to go the extra mile and help the trio of pooches reach their own target - a loving home.
Mongrel Peanut has been at the world famous animal charity for an incredible 429 days, Molly has spent 334 days at the home and Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Justin is also desperate for somewhere new to live.
Battersea rehomer Laura Weekley said: “Peanut’s such an entertaining dog and loves running around and keeping herself entertained. Whoever takes her on will be rewarded with plenty of love and laughs.”
Turning to Molly, volunteer dog walker Alison King said: “Molly is such a fun girl and everyone here has grown very fond of her. She’ll make a wonderful companion and will be a constant source of entertainment in her new home.”
Philip Heron Battersea’s customer service manager, said of Justin: “All this lovely lad needs is a calm and patient home who can dedicate a bit of time to give Justin some further training and plenty of TLC.”
