Childhood sweethearts, who met when they were 11 years old, will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on the same day as the royal wedding.
Grandparents Jene and Brian Eacott, both 71, were delighted to hear that Catherine Middleton would be walking up the aisle to marry Prince William on the day of their 50th wedding anniversary.
To celebrate the landmark in their relationship the Chessington couple went on a two week cruise to the Carribean, but Mrs Eacott wanted to be back home in time for the royal celebrations.
She said: “I am really looking forward to the wedding, it’s really quite an occasion that I felt we should be here for to see for ourselves. I wish the couple every happiness in their future together.”
When asked what advice he would give to the young couple for their marriage Mr Eacott, said: “You have just got to give and take.
"Everyone has arguments every now and then, although we don’t really have that many. You should just enjoy each other’s company."
