Sutton Schools Borough U11s, made certain of at least runners up in the league with a 1-0 win at Newbury on Saturday.
Sutton maintained their recent good form, passing the ball against a physical side. Their patience paid off when Tate Greenaway scored the only goal with a fine left-foot finish.
With player of the match Joseph Sampah and Alfie Doughty winning ball in the midfield, Sutton dominated the first half and could easily have scored more with George Miller and Greenaway continually causing problems.
It was Sutton’s third clean sheet in a row.
This Saturday, they visit Watford for the national seven-a-side finals. Hull, Vale and Liverpool are in their group.
Sutton: Barnard, Miller (Cheam Common), Seagroatt (Holy Trinity), Mottley, Vanstone (Abbey), Doughty – Capt. (Nonsuch), Nebbitt (All Saints’), Hardy, Anto (St. Cecilia’s), Sampah (Westbourne), Stephens (Cheam Park Farm), Shaw (Bandon Hill), Greenaway (Cheam Fields)
