An exploding aerosol can blew out a wall and shattered windows at the weekend.
Firefighters were called to a flat in Scott Avenue, West Hill, on Saturday at about 2pm after receiving multiple calls from the public about an explosion.
Three fire engines rushed to the scene only to discover that the likely cause was an aerosol can in the bathroom too close to a candle flame.
The explosion blew out a bathroom wall and shattered three windows but did not start a fire. The four shocked residents of the flat escaped without injury.
Gas monitoring equipment was used to ensure the blast was not a carbon monoxide leak.
A spokesman for Wandsworth Fire Station said: "We would like to remind people of the dangers of leaving candles and naked flames unattended."
