A shopkeeper was badly beaten by two men in monkey masks.
The 37-year-old was hit in the head with a heavy object in Collingwood Road, Sutton, at about 10.30pm on Friday, June 24.
His injuries mean he has temporarily restricted his sight in his right eye.
Police said he was attacked while unloading stock from his van by two suspects who wore "monkey type" masks.
The incident was outside Corner’s at the junction with Chaucer Road.
Officers are now appealing for any witnesses.
Detective Constable Nicola Peace, of Sutton CID, believes local residents may have information that could help police with their investigation.
She said: “It may be that a member of the public has seen these people soon after the attack and seen where they went or saw them take their masks off.
“I urge anyone with information to come forward - your information will be treated confidentially.”
