Thousands enjoyed Lambeth’s showpiece event at the weekend, refusing to let the rain dampen their spirits.
The 37th Lambeth Country Show saw a variety of acts performing while community groups engendered the feel good community spirit.
Organised by Lambeth Council, the show had all the trappings of a traditional country fair, including horticultural shows, sheep dog and owl displays, but with a distinctly Lambeth feel – making it the biggest festival in south London.
The Show usually attracts more than 80,000 people to each of the two days – about 180,000 attended last year’s festival - but numbers for this year are not yet known.
Councillor Steve Reed, leader of Lambeth Council, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed being at the country show this weekend and I hope that the thousands of other people there did too. It was a fantastic weekend, despite the weather, and I’d like to thank all those who helped make it such a success, from the performers, to the organisers and all the volunteers from community groups across the borough.”
