A Mitcham flower show was hailed a blooming success last weekend.
Merton Horticultural Society’s Summer Show featured more than 150 exhibits at St Mark’s Hall on July 2.
Bob Vickers, who won two awards, said: “The blooms were stunning; so many beautiful shades of colour, and the scent was glorious.
Winners included:
Bob Vickers (the Mizen cup for best bloom in roses and the Bishopsford cup for the best exhibit in roses);
Jenny Truelove (the Fidler Cup for best exhibit in floral art using roses);
Joan Prior (the Bob Brewin cup for sweet peas);
Eileen Magrath (the H Cusden cup for best exhibit in cut flowers);
Jean Russell (the Centenary cup for best exhibit in geraniums); and
Joyce Young (the Begonia rosette).
