A revolutionary double deck cycle rack has been introduced outside Sutton Railway Station.

The bunk-bed style rack doubles the amount of cycle parking spaces, as it can hold up to 40 cycle in the exact same space as the old rack.

It also includes 24-hour CCTV protection and canopy coverage.

Paul Best, Southern Railway's project manager, said: "We are delighted with the new rack. It’s innovative in its design and is well used by our cycling passengers and, as a result, we are now looking at more stations where this kind of facility would be of tremendous benefit to our passengers."

The new two-tier system was installed after many comments from commuters and user groups as part of Sutton Station's Travel Plan.
