Road closures will leave parts of Elmbridge landlocked by barricades when world-class cyclists test the Olympic road race course next month.
The London-Surrey Classic Race, on Sunday, August 14, which includes an 80km loop into Surrey, will be a test run for the London 2012 cycles races.
People in Molesey, West Molesey, Thames Ditton, Esher, Oxshott, Walton and Weybridge, have been advised by organisers LOCOG to avoid using roads.
London 2012 Chairman Seb Coe said: “This is going to be a fantastic race and our course, with its interesting route and impressive technical elements, has attracted the best nations and pro cycling teams in the world, so this really is a trial run for the games in 2012.
“However, as with any major sporting event, in particular one that moves through so many different areas of London and the south-east, there will be a significant impact on traffic and transport. We want to give everyone enough time to plan their weekend.”
The cyclists will first enter Surrey at about 9.30am, when they cross Hampton Court Bridge. They will then take in the Moleseys, Walton and Weybridge, before arriving at Box Hill at about 10.40am.
On their way back in to London, they will cycle through Oxshott, Esher and Thames Ditton, on their way back to an expected return to Hampton Court Bridge at about 11.50am.
Roads in East Molesey and West Molesey will close at 6am and reopen at 11.45am, while roads in Walton and Weybridge will be closed between 6am and 12.15pm.
Roads in Oxshott, Esher and Thames Ditton will close a little later at 6.45am and be open again by 2.15pm.
The route between Hampton Court and Kingston Gate will be closed between 6am and 3pm, while all parking bays on the course and some on bus routes will be suspended between 8pm on Saturday until 5pm on Sunday.
