A second cricketer has been cleared of assaulting a man during an alleged match brawl.
Ali Jaffery, of Bensham Lane, Thornton Heath, was cleared this morning at Kingston Crown Court of unlawful and malicious wounding.
His Wimbledon Park teammate Sharukh Mirza, the son of former mayor of Kingston Councillor Shiraz Mirza, was cleared on Friday, July 22, of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Earlier in the trial the court heard how the match with Catford Wanderers at Manor Park in Old Malden descended into brawl with punches and blows with cricket bats.
The clash on July 25 last year was allegedly sparked by insults and a racist taunt.
Mr Mirza, 30, of Leatherhead Road, Chessington, was cleared of the charges when the jury delivered their verdict of not guilty.
Mr Jaffery, 30, had to wait over the weekend to hear the result.
