A helping hand for people with mental health problems has returned to Merton.

Support organisation Leap Forward ran pilot projects in the borough for 18 months from December 2009. Now the Mitcham-based community interest company has returned with a wider range of services.

This month it has launched schemes ranging from a programme to help clients find employment and build peer support networks to Tai Chi classes aimed at boosting their confidence.

The organisation's mission statement says its user-led services will help clients to recover, realise their potential and "become fully functioning and contributing members of society, and not be subject to discrimination or stigma".

A launch party, with guests including councillors and Mitcham and Morden MP Siobhain McDonagh, took place at St Mark's Family Centre in Mitcham last Tuesday, July 19.
