A half hour stand-off between police and a man armed with a knife has ended after officers shot him with a Taser.
The man, believed to be 26, was threatening to kill himself with the blade in George Street at about 4.50pm today.
Police were called after reports a man had injuries to his neck and wrists.
A stand-off followed between police and the man as they attempted to speak to him.
Police confirmed they shot the man with a Taser.
The man was arrested at about 5.35pm for possesion of an offensive weapon and detained under the Mental Health Act.
One ambulance was sent by the London Ambulance Service.
He was taken to Croydon university Hospital with injuries to his neck and wrists, confirmed police and ambulance.
Tram services through central Croydon were suspended while the drama unfolded but services are set to resume.
