A well-travelled BBC news reporter has picked up the pen again and written her second novel influenced by her experiences abroad.

Jill McGivering, 47, of Putney, has covered foreign news for the BBC for almost 20 years, and has had postings across Asia including Hongkong and Dehli and has also worked in Washington as a State Department Correspondent.

Her first novel The Last Kestrel charted the lives of two women during the Afghan conflict and her latest book, Far from my Father’s House, is set in Pakistan and looks at the growing influence of the Taliban.

It is set for general release on August 4.
