Residents of a street in Wandsworth got to know their neighbours at a special street party.
The party, which took place in Longley road last Sunday (July 24), was the idea of neighbourhood watch coordinator Barbara Adolph.
She said: “Knowing your neighbours is a better way for crime prevention than expensive alarms and other gadgets.
"The street is quite long, has a lot of traffic, and quite a bit of mobility, so people tend not to know each other well.
“Many people said that they have lived on the street for years, sometimes decades, and hardly knew their neighbours before the party.
"It really helped to get to know each other across age, religious and ethnic groups, with all of these working together to make it work.”
