Parts of Surbiton were closed this afternoon following the discovery of an object thought to be an old World War Two bomb.
Police were called to Victoria Avenue at 2.30pm after reports of an old bomb being found.
They closed Victoria Road, Victoria Avenue and Brighton Road as experts were called in to inspect the metal object.
But following investigation it became clear the object found was not a bomb.
The incident was stood down at 4.05pm and roads reopened.
