Firefighters used their backpacks and a couple of buckets of water to put out an abandoned bonfire last night.
The fire started near the Wells Estate off Dorking Road, Epsom, at about 10.30pm on Saturday, July 30.
It is believed the bonfire was started by a group of children, but was then left unattended and caught alight again.
A crew of four Epsom firefighters spent about 30 minutes at the scene.
A spokesman said: “Some kids set it up and got bored and left it. They set it up quite well, with nothing above it and nothing around it, but then they got bored and left it.”
He added that people are not allowed to start bonfires in parks.
