Train services between East Croydon and Purley are severely disrupted due to flooding from a burst water main.
All lines are blocked and there are currently no trains running southbound from East Croydon station however, northbound services are running as normal.
There is a shuttle train service in operation between Brighton and Gatwick Airport, between Uckfield and Oxted and between Sanderstead and Oxted.
A spokesman for Southern Railway said: “We are arranging rail replacement buses between East Croydon and Three Bridges, between Oxted and East Croydon, between Redhill and Oxted and between Purley and East Croydon.
"We are also arranging shuttle buses between Uckfield and Haywards Heath.”
Customers have been advised short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 90 minutes can be expected.
The burst water pipe is understood to be in Stanhope Road, Croydon.
