A group of travellers who set up camp on Streatham Common on Thursday have now moved to a nearby supermarket car park.
The group of 14 vehicles, nine of them motorised, told council officers they needed to stay on Streatham Common until Monday because their family members had appointments at a local hospital.
But Lambeth police and council officers moved them on last Friday, July 29. They are now reportedly staying in Sainsbury’s car park on Streatham High Road.
A police spokesperson said they were working with the council and community leaders to find a resolution, with minimum disruption to local residents.
They said Local Safer Neighbourhoods Team officers were also monitoring the site.
Jo Cleary, executive director of adults' and community services for Lambeth Council, confirmed the travellers were the same group who parked their vehicles on the Common earlier this month.
