An Epsom woman who had a double lung transplant four years ago is stepping up to the plate to take part in the British Transplant games.
Lisa Muscutt, 38, of Clandon Close, Stoneleigh, will be heading to Belfast to take part in the games from August 4 to August 7, where she will be taking part in the badminton, volleyball and relay race events.
The Metropolitan Police witness care officer was born with Cystic Fibrosis and after a deterioration in health a few years ago she was close to dying.
She is competing for the Harefield Hamsters-named after Harefield Hospital where she received her transplant.
Ms Muscutt said: "Over the years my lung functioning declined and then in 2005 they said without a transplant I had less than two years to live.
"It took years for the call to come but after the seventh call I had the transplant."
After her transplant in 2007 she had a fresh lease of life and is taking part in the games to thank her donor and the Harefield Hospital where she had the operation.
She said: "It's completely changed my life. It's just lovely to be able to walk around free from the wheelchair.
"I want to do it for the hospital and the donor. If I can get a medal that would be fantastic but I'm going for the enjoyment and to meet other people who have had transplants."
