A man who was pulled out of the Thames has died despite desperate efforts of members of the public to rescue him.
The 46-year-old Surbiton man went into the water at about 7.50pm on Saturday, July 30.
Witnesses said about four young men dived into the water and pulled him out of the river near the Gazebo pub near Kingston Bridge.
Paramedics found he was in cardiac arrest and made extensive efforts to resuscitate him at the side of the river, before taking him to Kingston Hospital.
Doctors continued the efforts to save him and he was put on life support, but he died yesterday, Sunday, July 31.
Police said his wife has been informed, and a post mortem will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, August 2.
His name has not been released.
Police are treating his death as non-suspicious.
