Dragons Den failure Alan Sharrock felt like he had done ‘six rounds with Mike Tyson’ after he was booted off the show for his weight loss chair.
But now the businessman is sitting pretty after landing a contract one of the UK’s largest leisure companies.
Mr Sharrock’s sit and slim chairs were rejected by the fearsome panel when he appeared on the nations screens for the BBC program on Sunday, July 31.
However the chairs, which use audio programmes to help people lose weight, were given the seal of approval by NHS research and are now used in DC leisure and Topnotch Health Clubs, including one in Blagdon Road, New Malden.
The NHS research showed 60 per cent of people who undertook a three month trial lost weight and recorded lower blood pressure and 44 per cent felt a significant improvement in their self-esteem.
The healthy living entrepreneur and owner of Miruji health and wellbeing was frustrated he didn’t have the NHS results in time for his 90minute grilling in the den, which he said was extremely nerve racking.
He said: “Straight afterwards and for a couple of days I felt like I had done six rounds with Mike Tyson, I had the stuffing kicked out of me. I was waking up at four in the morning and having nightmares.”
The 49-year-old has now regained his confidence in the chairs, which he said has helped some users lose up to four stone, and is looking forward to expanding the business.
He said: “The dragons were extremely sceptical which I suppose is understandable but now we have the medical proof that sit and slim works.
“I’m looking forward to proving to the dragons that they should have invested in me.”
