Surrey launched its version of a national foster care charter with the assistance of two teenagers who helped draw it up.
Peter Kiberou, 18, from Walton, and Amzi Dhaliwal, 17, from Lingfield, joined Surrey councillor Mary Angell to sign the Surrey charter at a celebration for more than 450 foster children and carers.
The national charter was drawn up by Tim Loughton MP, Minister for Children and Families.
Coun Angell said: “Our charter underlines the huge value we place on supporting children in our care to get the best possible start in life and helping the people who do such a wonderful job of providing loving homes for them.”
The council’s pledge outlines how the authority will champion the cause of children in its care and help those who look after them.
There are about 750 children in the council’s care at any one time.
