A man is warning jewellery wearers to be vigilant after his elderly mother-in-law was pushed into the road by three men who snatched her gold chains.
Vinod Krishnan, 35, was walking home with his mother, daughter and parents-in-law from Surrey Street Market, Croydon, when the incident happened at around 2.45pm on Sunday.
Mr Krishnan's wife and mother-in-law were walking behind him when three men pushed the pair into the road, before grabbing two chains from his mother-in-law's neck.
The chains, which are 24-carat Indian gold are worth between £2,500 and £3,000.
He said: “My mother-in-law is so shocked. She is only here visiting to see her granddaughter and to have something like this happen has left her very frightened.
"She wants to buy a ticket and return to India earlier than planned. I want to warn others there are people like this around."
