The Pearly King of Wandsworth has hung up his donation bucket having completed his last charity collection.

Ted Larkin, of Bedford Hill, Balham, was at Wandsworth's Southside Shopping Centre on Saturday raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

However, he told the Wandsworth Guardian, having reached the ripe old age of 91, it was to be his last cash collection outing.

He said he had raised £150,000 since he started raising money for charity in 1981. Mr Larkin added: "They say I'm a marvel everywhere I go."

Mr Larkin chose the Teenage Cancer Trust because he survived bowel cancer, and knew the impact it can have.

He has yet to hear from the trust exactly how much he raised.
