Newly crowned swimming World Champion Rebecca Adlington has come face to face with her real life "mini-me" on Clapham Common.

The double Olympic Gold medalist met four-year-old swimming sensation Tae Smith at the British Gas Big Dip pools on the common this week.

The youngster stunned the swimming world last month when she swam a whopping 101 lengths nonstop, having only started swimming lessons in February.

Adlington invited Tae, who is already tipped as a future Olympic hopeful, to have an exclusive one-on-one training session with her in the temporary pool.

She said: "When I heard about Tae’s performance I couldn’t wait to meet her. It’s an amazing achievement, especially considering she’s just four. I certainly couldn’t have swum that far at her age."

Tae's mum Trezan, from Poole in Dorset, said: "We were so overwhelmed when we found out Becky wanted to meet Tae and to get a personal session with her in the pool at the British Gas Big Dip was incredible.

"Tae was so excited when I showed her a picture of Becky that she’s been asking at every swimming class since when she’d get to meet her. It was fantastic to see her face light up when Becky arrived.

"She loves swimming and as long as she continues to enjoy it we’re going to support her all the way. Today will definitely be a day for her to remember, not every four-year-old gets to meet an Olympic legend."
