Hundreds of pensioners were treated to a banquet fit for royalty at a special community event.
Regenerate-Rise (Reaching the Isolated Elderly) held its annual Kings and Queens banquet for 360 pensioners from Roehampton and Putney on the Danebury Avenue green at the end of July.
Entertainment was provided by the jazz band, Grandpa’s Spells, followed by the Slingshot Theatre Company singing songs from the musicals and finishing with entertainer Ed Hopkins leading the audience with a sing-a-long.
Mayor of Wandsworth Councillor Jane Cooper joined in the celebrations, which ended with every guest being given a red rose and a special Kings and Queens mug.
Mo Smith, chairwoman of trustees of Regenerate-Rise, said “It is a great opportunity for the local community to get together and a great privilege to serve our older residents and treat them like Kings and Queens."
