A once in a life time opportunity awaits two youngsters who will lead Manchester United and Manchester City onto the pitch ahead of their game at Wembley this afternoon.

Evie Nendick, 8, from Surbiton and Harry Steels, 11, from New Malden, will walk out with some of the Premiership’s biggest stars at the annual season curtain raiser for the FA Community Shield.

The budding footballers won the opportunity after entering a McDonald’s competition, which gave 22 youngsters across the country the chance to accompany the players.

Harry has played for New Malden Little League for two years and has been to Wembley once before to watch an England friendly.

He said: "When I found out I won I felt really really excited and told all my family and friends. They were shocked and didn’t really believe me, but were really happy for me, I can’t wait."

Evie plays football with her dad and younger brother in the garden and thinks Wayne Rooney is the best football player.

She said: "I felt really excited, I was jumping up and down on the sofa. I told my best friend and she said wow. I think I will feel nervous but quite excited on the day."

Evie and Harry will also get the chance to meet England legend and McDonald’s director of football, Sir Geoff Hurst for a pre-match meet and greet with the hat trick scoring 1966 World Cup winner.
