A Brixton looter who joined a mob raid on a supermarket has been jailed.
Troy McLeod was one of 50 people to force his way into the Tesco store on Acre Lane on August 8, as rioting spread across south London.
Jurors at the Inner London Crown court heard the group pushed up the metal shutters at the store entrance and barged their way in shortly after 1am. Some rioters then ran along the front of the store grabbing money from the checkouts, assaulting staff and stealing property.
Staff working late in the shop fled through the fire escape. Police arrested McLeod on the fire exit stairs.
McLeod, 27, of Brighton Terrace, Brixton pleaded guilty to burglary at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to 20 months in prison on Thursday.
