Carshalton College has been awarded the Students’ Union Games Inspired Accreditation by the NUS.

14 students' union have been announced as the first recipients of the Be a Champion accreditation.

The accreditation rewards and recognises the commitment and effort shown by students’ unions in creating an environment for Games inspired activity to flourish.

Without support and guidance from students’ unions and the officers and staff that form their backbone students wouldn’t be able to play such a role in London 2012 inspired activity.

The application for the Bronze Award required the College to demonstrate commitment to Olympic and Paralympic values and opportunities for students to adopt the values within their institution, community and lives. Plus providing examples of events/projects carried out in games related areas include volunteering, sport, education, culture, sustainability skills & employability and research. Activities at Carshalton College have included the annual Paralympic Festival, being a member of the Get Set Network and part of the Bridging The Gap scheme. With all activities as many students from different course areas have been included with art and design, media, catering and beauty. The Student Union actively promotes opportunities for working at the Olympic Park and any volunteering roles.

There are two more waves to apply for accreditation between now and the start of London 2012.
