Crystal Palace are waiting to find out the extent of the broken leg Jonathan Williams suffered while on international duty.
The 18-year-old was due to see a specialist in London today to discover how long he faces on the sidelines after breaking the bone during Wales U21s 0-0 draw with Armenia yesterday.
The midfielder has been a revelation since breaking into the Eagles first team this season.
"It is obviously very sad for the young man and his family," said Eagles boss Dougie Freedman.
"He has got the club's backing in terms of giving him the best medical care he could get.
"I think this young man will cope with it very well and probably come back better physically as well as mentally.
"You will see Jonny Williams's character coming through and he will be back in a Palace shirt."
