The fourth Elmbridge Literature Festival will culminate with a series of events celebrating writing for and by young people.

Elmbridge children of all ages are catered for at events from workshops to poetry slams and theatre performances on November 19 and 20.

Storybored, a graphic novel workshop for six to 10 year olds, will be run by award-winning authors and illustrators. A family poetry slam will encourage people to work together to create poetry exploring the theme Breaking the Barrier.

Budding authors can get advice and expertise on writing for children from the Pony Club Diaries creator Kelly McKain.

Councillor Jan Fuller, portfolio holder for leisure and cultural services, said: “The Fourth Elmbridge Literature Festival gives families the opportunity to learn more about writing for children and invites them to let their imagination run wild and write their own story.”

The festival will close with a performance of the Hipdeep Family Plot; a true-life tale of chaotic family life.

No experience is necessary to take part.
